That time is finally here - and it is about time.
We are excited to finally launch The Nigeria Prize for Difference and Diversity
– to find, recognise and support individuals, communities, and organizations
creating safe spaces for individuals, free from discrimination and
marginalization with The Nigeria Prize for Difference and Diversity.
The Prize is geared to support the opening up of the voices,
hearts, and spirits of young people across Nigeria, urging them to embrace
their true identities and accept their uniqueness without fear of
being suppressed, oppressed, even misunderstood.
Ten Outstanding Individuals Will Be Selected.
From 30 June 2020, the team will receive public nominations across the six regions of Nigeria, from which ten outstanding individuals will be selected from a pool of nominations to attend a residential fellowship in October/November 2020.
The 10 finalists will be announced in September and will be selected for the one week workshop where they will be coached and mentored by a faculty of the brightest minds across media, rights and governance.
This will be followed by an awards presentation in December to commemorate World Human Rights Day, where the overall winner will receive N1 million endowed by journalist and entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo for this first edition. Jideonwo has been at the forefront of diversity and difference storytelling and activism across Africa.
Nominees must be between the ages of 18-35 as at the period of nomination
